This past April, Lustre Theory traveled with our team to Lake Como to shoot at the elegant Villa Sola Cabiati. This 18th-century villa, with its ornate architecture and lavish details, provided the ideal setting to showcase these exquisite gowns by designer Rami Al Ali.
These haunting images have a colorful, painterly aesthetic.
There’s a unique quality in film photography that some argue digital can’t quite capture—the soft grain, the rich, deep colors, and the natural light streaming through the villa’s expansive windows create a dreamy, almost otherworldly atmosphere. Each photo feels like a piece of classic art, where the villa’s opulent interiors and Rami Al Ali’s exquisite designs blend seamlessly.
Rami Al Ali’s gowns are masterpieces in their own right.
His designs are known for their luxurious fabrics and delicate details. The soft feathers that adorn some of the designs catch the light beautifully, adding an airy, ethereal quality to the images. The way these feathered details play with light and shadow brings the dresses to life, making them look even more elegant and graceful. The painterly style of the shoot highlights the gowns’ beauty in a way that feels both timeless and modern.
This project is all about the magic that happens when fashion and art collide. Rami Al Ali’s gowns, paired with the historic drama of Villa Sola Cabiati on Lake Como and the distinct look of film photography, create of images that are romantic, dreamy, and absolutely unforgettable. It’s like stepping into a painting where luxury and elegance take center stage.
