Let’s talk about how to style a chic side hair bow look. Who doesn’t love a large dramatic bow? I’m here for this trend. As with most of my styling work I always try to bring you unique ways to wear the current trends.
We’re all accustomed to seeing these large bows in the back of someone’s hair. Maybe with a half up half down look or ponytail depending on how thick your hair is. But what about a chic side bow?
For this styling tutorial I selected the dreamy pearl encrusted Jennifer Behr – Bailey Pearl Bow Barrette.
You certainly don’t need to be a bride to wear one of these show stoppers. But for this I have styled Haley in a Naeem Khan Bridal Design – Verona.
1. You can place your bow on either the right or left side of your head. Haley has a higher updo where the bow has been positioned on the left side.
2. This bow has more weight to it because of the pearl detailing and needed more support to hold it in place. Which is why I selected the updo to showcase the style. If you have a lighter bow having your hair partially down could also be an option if you are not a fan of having your hair fully up.
3. If you would like to reproduce this look make sure to position the bow higher in your hair and a little more towards the front so it’s visible and lightly brushes your ear.
4. It never hurts to also then secure the clip with bobby pins for extra support. This will keep it in place during the day and prevent it from slipping.
5. Finally if you want some extra pearl drama add in some pearl pins within your updo. You’ll see some placed within Haley’s hair. I would keep these on the more minimal side to let your bow shine!
